Citrine is a Yellow to Brownish Orange variety of Quartz.  It is generally thought of as a November Birthstone.  Natural Citrine is Very Rare.  Most Citrine in Jewelry is actually Amethyst that has been heat-treated to alter its color.  This stone has a Mohs hardness of 7.
